I have a few goals as an upcoming teacher. I want to use technology in my class to its fullest potential!
As a PE and Theater teacher, I won't have as many opportunities to use technology in the classroom,
but that doesn't mean I'm only left with cones and playground balls!
Many students, now-a-days, have their own electronic device, or even more than one. With this information, I can work with the students to use their devices in positive ways!
Here are five goals I have of integrating technology into the classroom.

Many students, now-a-days, have their own electronic device, or even more than one. With this information, I can work with the students to use their devices in positive ways!
Here are five goals I have of integrating technology into the classroom.
1. I plan to connect the students in my class with each other as well as with the outside world by creating a class page on a social media platform such as Facebook or Twitter. I will monitor and run the page, but I will allow the students to post class related content that they are interested in. For example, they could post about an interesting discussion we had in class, or post an article related to whatever topic we happen to be working on or about something related to the class that they just have a question about. This will also give the students an opportunity to ask an anonymous question they may not want to ask in class, or in front of everyone else.
2. In my PE class I already plan on having the students write down fitness related goals they want to achieve over their time in my class. Technology can aid in this. With the prevalence of smart phones and tablets, I can have the students find an app that helps them track their progress. If they are interested in running, they can keep track of their miles and run times. If they lift weights, they can keep track of their set and rep schemes and the weights they use for each exercise. They can keep track of their diet and sleeping patterns.
3. In both my PE and Theater classes I can have the students select a topic of their choice (approved by me) to research and give a presentation on towards the end of the class. They can work in small groups or by themselves, but I will have them select a topic within the first few weeks of class to present at the end. This will not only give them a chance to become familiar with the content, but will expose them (if they hadn't been exposed already) to things like Google Hangouts, Power Point or Google Slides, Prezi, or any other collaborative and presentation oriented platform.
4. As an instructor of a class of students, I will need to get information to students who don't show up to class from time to time. This is where screencasting comes into play. Check out my Screencast page for more on the app "Educreations". I can use Educreations or any other screencasting platform to record a lesson and send it to the absent student(s). I could also use it to post reviews of what we discussed or learned about in class.
5. As a future theater teacher, I plan to have my theater students learn to tell stories digitally. Digital story telling can take place in so many ways. The students will get to utilize technology through platforms like youtube, Google Slides, iMovie, and even screencasting apps like Educreations.
